1000 Weekends

That's about how long we have to enjoy our kids. I figure 52 weekends a year for 18 years = 936 weekends. That leaves 64 weekends left. If your adult child returns to visit you 5 times a year for the next 12 years, then that makes up the rest. So, if I had Karina at age 33, my 1000 weekends run out somewhere after age 63-unless I take some of the weekend getaways that Mike and I took when they were younger, and tack them on to the back end...

One thousand weekends is not very long. It's fun, intense, a real whirlwind of experience. Thank god we have our wonderful kids to stir-up our lives and cause all this commotion!

I'd like to plan out some special things to do on these remaining weekends. But ironically, my focus happens as Karina and Mason are brainstorming ways to spend more time with other people. Hmmm. I guess we really have less than 1000 weekends.
